Our initial blueprints didn't include England. Only Scotland was a certainty.
Back in my youth, I met a vibrant soul by the name of Katie at her aunt's bed and breakfast on Chincoteague Island, Virginia. For about a week straight, we ran around the Channel Bass Inn, collected seashells, played with the abundance of cats on the island, and went boogie boarding on the expansive Atlantic beaches of Assateague.
When graced with a photo session in Nottingham, Katie and I were able to reconnect in her home outside of Leeds, England.
Bryana and I were greeted at her door with dinner and the bright face of her son, Luis. They had only just moved into their apartment a few days before our arrival, so much of their belongings were still stacked in boxes. We stayed up late talking about everything between university and childbirth until Bryana and I passed out on the couch and floor.
We had coffee together in the morning before our departure, but we left with our hearts full. Incredible hardly begins to describe how fulfilling it was to hug Katie for the first time in over a decade... x
